vantage6 up to 4.1.x Task sensitive information

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in vantage6 up to 4.1.x. It has been classified as problematic. This affects an unknown code block of the component Task Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sensitive information vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-922. The product stores sensitive information without properly limiting read or write access by unauthorized actors. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

The vantage6 technology enables to manage and deploy privacy enhancing technologies like Federated Learning (FL) and Multi-Party Computation (MPC). There are no checks on whether the input is encrypted if a task is created in an encrypted collaboration. Therefore, a user may accidentally create a task with sensitive input data that will then be stored unencrypted in a database. Users should ensure they set the encryption setting correctly. This vulnerability is patched in 4.2.0.

The weakness was released 01/30/2024 as GHSA-rjmv-52mp-gjrr. It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2024-22193 since 01/08/2024.
