Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.8-rc2 (Operating System) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function min_key_size_set/max_key_size_set of the component Bluetooth Device Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
A race condition was found in the Linux kernel's bluetooth device driver in {min,max}_key_size_set() function. This can result in a null pointer dereference issue, possibly leading to a kernel panic or denial of service issue.
The weakness was disclosed 02/05/2024. The advisory is available at bugzilla.openanolis.cn. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2024-24860 since 02/01/2024. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
