Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 5.11.21/5.12.4 (Operating System). Affected is the function iio_device_unregister of the component iio. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: core: fix ioctl handlers removal Currently ioctl handlers are removed twice. For the first time during iio_device_unregister() then later on inside iio_device_unregister_eventset() and iio_buffers_free_sysfs_and_mask(). Double free leads to kernel panic. Fix this by not touching ioctl handlers list directly but rather letting code responsible for registration call the matching cleanup routine itself.
