A vulnerability was found in django-wiki up to 0.10.0 on Django. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component Article Handler. django-wiki is a wiki system for Django. Installations of django-wiki prior to version 0.10.1 are vulnerable to maliciously crafted article content that can cause severe use of server CPU through a regular expression loop. Version 0.10.1 fixes this issue. As a workaround, close off access to create and edit articles by anonymous users.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2024-28865 since 03/11/2024. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely.
