Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.10.41/5.12.8. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function sja1105_setup of the component dsa. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: dsa: sja1105: add error handling in sja1105_setup() If any of sja1105_static_config_load(), sja1105_clocking_setup() or sja1105_devlink_setup() fails, we can't just return in the middle of sja1105_setup() or memory will leak. Add a cleanup path.
The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2021-47158. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 5.10.42, 5.12.9 or 5.13 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch dd8609f20344/987e4ab8b8a4/cec279a898a3 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
