A vulnerability has been found in Serverpod up to 1.2.5 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Password Handler. The product generates a hash for a password, but it uses a scheme that does not provide a sufficient level of computational effort that would make password cracking attacks infeasible or expensive. Serverpod is an app and web server, built for the Flutter and Dart ecosystem. An issue was identified with the old password hash algorithm that made it susceptible to rainbow attacks if the database was compromised. This vulnerability is fixed by 1.2.6.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2024-29886 since 03/21/2024. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely.
