A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in CMS Made Simple up to 2.4 (Content Management System). Affected is the function search of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument search with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in index.php for CMSimple 2.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the search parameter in the search function.
The bug was discovered 07/13/2005. The weakness was presented 07/21/2005 by Lostmon (Website). The advisory is available at lostmon.blogspot.com.
