Linux Kernel up to 6.7.4 DPP DMA_DPP_Interrupt_Status denial of service

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.7.4 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function DMA_DPP_Interrupt_Status of the component DPP Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: stmmac: xgmac: fix handling of DPP safety error for DMA channels Commit 56e58d6c8a56 ("net: stmmac: Implement Safety Features in XGMAC core") checks and reports safety errors, but leaves the Data Path Parity Errors for each channel in DMA unhandled at all, lead to a storm of interrupt. Fix it by checking and clearing the DMA_DPP_Interrupt_Status register.

The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2024-26684 since 02/19/2024. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 5.4.269, 5.10.210, 5.15.149, 6.1.78, 6.6.17, 6.7.5 or 6.8 eliminates this vulnerability.
