Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.17/6.7.5 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function btlb_info of the component parisc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: parisc: BTLB: Fix crash when setting up BTLB at CPU bringup When using hotplug and bringing up a 32-bit CPU, ask the firmware about the BTLB information to set up the static (block) TLB entries. For that write access to the static btlb_info struct is needed, but since it is marked __ro_after_init the kernel segfaults with missing write permissions. Fix the crash by dropping the __ro_after_init annotation.
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2024-26705 since 02/19/2024. The exploitation is known to be easy. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
