Details
A vulnerability was found in Stacklok Minder 0.0.39. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Minder by Stacklok is an open source software supply chain security platform. A refactoring in commit `5c381cf` added the ability to get GitHub repositories registered to a project without specifying a specific provider. Unfortunately, the SQL query for doing so was missing parenthesis, and would select a random repository. This issue is patched in pull request 2941. As a workaround, revert prior to `5c381cf`, or roll forward past `2eb94e7`.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2024-31455 since 04/03/2024. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
