A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in FunkBoard 0.66f (Forum Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file editpost.php. The manipulation of the argument subject with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in FunkBoard 0.66CF, and possibly earlier versions, allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the fbusername or fbpassword parameter to (1) editpost.php, (2) prefs.php, (3) newtopic.php, (4) reply.php, or (5) profile.php, the (6) fbusername, (7) fmail, (8) www, (9) icq, (10) yim, (11) location, (12) sex, (13) interebbies, (14) sig or (15) aim parameter to register.php, or (16) subject parameter to newtopic.php.
The weakness was disclosed 08/16/2005 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-2569 since 08/16/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:editpost.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
