A vulnerability was found in PHPFreeNews 1.40. It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the file searchresults.php. The manipulation of the argument CatID with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in PHPFreeNews 1.40 and earlier allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) Match or (2) CatID parameter to SearchResults.php, or (3) the password to AccessControl.php.
The weakness was disclosed 08/23/2005 by h4cky0u (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2005-2637 since 08/20/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
