A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in HAURI ViRobot Expert 4.0. This issue affects an unknown code block. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in HAURI Anti-Virus products including ViRobot Expert 4.0, Advanced Server, Linux Server 2.0, and LiveCall allows remote attackers to overwrite arbitrary files via ".." sequences in filenames contained in (1) ACE, (2) ARJ, (3) CAB, (4) LZH, (5) RAR, (6) TAR and (7) ZIP files.
The weakness was shared 08/23/2005 by Tan Chew Keong with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is shared at globalhauri.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-2670 since 08/23/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
