A vulnerability has been found in aio-libs aiohttp up to 3.9.3 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component Index Pages. aiohttp is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for asyncio and Python. A XSS vulnerability exists on index pages for static file handling. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.9.4. We have always recommended using a reverse proxy server (e.g. nginx) for serving static files. Users following the recommendation are unaffected. Other users can disable `show_index` if unable to upgrade.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2024-27306 since 02/22/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
