A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Microsoft Process Explorer (Operating System Utility Software). This issue affects an unknown code block of the component Error Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. Impacted is availability. Process Explorer before 17.04 allows attackers to make it functionally unavailable (a denial of service for analysis) by renaming an executable file to a new extensionless 255-character name and launching it with NtCreateUserProcess. This can occur through an issue in wcscat_s error handling.
