Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.28/6.8.4. Affected is some unknown functionality of the component SMB Client. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: guarantee refcounted children from parent session Avoid potential use-after-free bugs when walking DFS referrals, mounting and performing DFS failover by ensuring that all children from parent @tcon->ses are also refcounted. They're all needed across the entire DFS mount. Get rid of @tcon->dfs_ses_list while we're at it, too.
