A vulnerability has been found in aeNovo aeNovoShop (unknown version) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the file control.asp of the component Error Message Handler. The manipulation of the argument strSQL with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in (1) aeNovo, (2) aeNovoShop and (3) aeNovoWYSI allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL code via (a) the password parameter in control.asp, and (b) the strSQL parameter in search.asp, which can enable XSS attacks in resulting error messages.
The bug was discovered 10/10/2005. The weakness was presented 10/07/2005 by Farhad Koosha and DevilBox (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at kapda.ir. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2005-3208 since 10/14/2005. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:control.asp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12196 (aeNovo Multiple SQL Injection and Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities).
It is possible to mitigate the problem by adding an authentication mechanism.
