Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.5.11/6.6.1. Affected is the function dma_addr_t of the component mediatek. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/mediatek: Fix coverity issue with unintentional integer overflow 1. Instead of multiplying 2 variable of different types. Change to assign a value of one variable and then multiply the other variable. 2. Add a int variable for multiplier calculation instead of calculating different types multiplier with dma_addr_t variable directly.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2023-52857 since 05/21/2024. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
