It is advisable to upgrade the affected component.
Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.15.6. This affects the function hns_dsaf_ge_srst_by_port of the component hisilicon. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a array index vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-129. The product uses untrusted input when calculating or using an array index, but the product does not validate or incorrectly validates the index to ensure the index references a valid position within the array. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ethernet: hisilicon: hns: hns_dsaf_misc: fix a possible array overflow in hns_dsaf_ge_srst_by_port() The if statement: if (port >= DSAF_GE_NUM) return; limits the value of port less than DSAF_GE_NUM (i.e., 8). However, if the value of port is 6 or 7, an array overflow could occur: port_rst_off = dsaf_dev->mac_cb[port]->port_rst_off; because the length of dsaf_dev->mac_cb is DSAF_MAX_PORT_NUM (i.e., 6). To fix this possible array overflow, we first check port and if it is greater than or equal to DSAF_MAX_PORT_NUM, the function returns.
The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2021-47548. The exploitability is told to be easy. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 12/10/2025).
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 214406 (EulerOS 2.0 SP8 : kernel (EulerOS-SA-2025-1123)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
Upgrading to version 4.9.292, 4.14.257, 4.19.220, 5.4.164, 5.10.84 or 5.15.7 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 948968f87476/abbd5faa0748/dd07f8971b81/99bb25cb6753/22519eff7df2/fc7ffa7f10b9/a66998e0fbf2 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (214406) and EUVD (EUVD-2021-34550). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
