A vulnerability was found in Ethereal up to 0.10.12 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code. Unspecified vulnerability in the ONC RPC dissector in Ethereal 0.10.3 to 0.10.12, when the "Dissect unknown RPC program numbers" option is enabled, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption).
The bug was discovered 10/19/2005. The weakness was shared 10/19/2005 by iDefense with iDEFENSE (Website). The advisory is available at ethereal.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-3245 since 10/17/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
