A vulnerability was found in Woltlab Burning Board up to 2.7 (Content Management System). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file info_db.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in the Info-DB module (info_db.php) in Woltlab Burning Board 2.7 and earlier allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands and possibly upload files via the (1) fileid and (2) subkatid parameters.
The weakness was released 10/26/2005 by [R] (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-3369 since 10/29/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:info_db.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 21035 (Woltlab Burning Board Multiple SQL Injections), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses.
