CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Adaptive Technology Resource Centre ATutor 1.4.1/1.4.2/1.4.3/1.5.1/1.5.1 Pl1 (Learning Management Software). This affects an unknown code of the file translate.php. The manipulation of the argument base_href with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. This is going to have an impact on integrity. The summary by CVE is:

Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in ATutor 1.4.1 through 1.5.1-pl1 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the _base_href parameter in translate.php, (2) the _base_path parameter in news.inc.php, and (3) the p parameter in add_note.php.

The bug was discovered 10/10/2005. The weakness was released 10/27/2005 by Andreas Sandblad with Secunia Research (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at secunia.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-3403 since 11/01/2005. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 17 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:translate.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 20095 (ATutor < 1.5.1-pl1 Multiple Remote Vulnerabilities (XSS, RFI, Command Exe)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses and running in the context r.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (22897), Tenable (20095), SecurityFocus (BID 15221†), OSVDB (20347†) and Secunia (SA16915†). Entries connected to this vulnerability are available at VDB-26753, VDB-26752, VDB-83014 and VDB-83015. Be aware that VulDB is the high quality source for vulnerability data.
