A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in eyeOS 0.8.4. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file desktop.php. The manipulation of the argument motd with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in desktop.php in eyeOS 0.8.4 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the motd parameter.
The bug was discovered 10/16/2005. The weakness was shared 10/31/2005 by Ryan McGeehan (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at secunia.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-3413 since 11/01/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
