A vulnerability was found in Chipmunk Scripts Chipmunk Directory (the affected version is unknown). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the file recommend.php. The manipulation of the argument entryID with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in recommend.php in Chipmunk Directory script allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the entryID parameter.
The weakness was presented 10/20/2005 by trueend5 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2005-3516 since 11/06/2005. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
