A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in MySource 2.14.0/2.14.0rc2. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file upgrade_in_progress_backend.php. The manipulation of the argument bgcolor with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in MySource 2.14.0 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the target_url parameter in upgrade_in_progress_backend.php, (2) the stylesheet parameter in edit_table_cell_type_wysiwyg.php, and the bgcolor parameter in (3) insert_table.php, (4) edit_table_cell_props.php, (5) header.php, (6) edit_table_row_props.php, and (7) edit_table_props.php.

The bug was discovered 09/30/2005. The weakness was disclosed 10/18/2005 by Secunia Security Advisories with Secunia Research (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-3520 since 11/06/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
