A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Phorum (Forum Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the file search.php. The manipulation of the argument forum_ids with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in search.php in Phorum 5.0.0alpha through 5.0.20, when register_globals is enabled, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the forum_ids parameter.
The bug was discovered 11/01/2005. The weakness was released 11/04/2005 by Janek Vind "waraxe" (Website). The advisory is shared for download at waraxe.us. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-3543 since 11/16/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
After even before and not, there has been an exploit disclosed. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 4 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:search.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
