A vulnerability classified as critical was found in NewsBoard Unclassified NewsBoard up to 1.5.2 (Forum Software). This vulnerability affects the function search of the file search.inc.php. The manipulation of the argument DateUntil with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in search.inc.php in Unclassified NewsBoard before 1.5.3 Patch 4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) DateFrom or (2) DateUntil parameter to forum.php.
The weakness was shared 11/18/2005 by rgod (Website). The advisory is available at secunia.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-3686 since 11/19/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
