CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in OpenBSD 3.9/4.0 (Operating System). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the file ld.so of the component ELF Handler. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, and integrity. CVE summarizes:

The _dl_unsetenv function in loader.c in the ELF ld.so in OpenBSD 3.9 and 4.0 does not properly remove duplicate environment variables, which allows local users to pass dangerous variables such as LD_PRELOAD to loading processes, which might be leveraged to gain privileges.

The weakness was presented 11/20/2006 by Justin Schuh with OpenBSD Team (Website). The advisory is available at openbsd.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-6164 since 11/28/2006. The attack needs to be done within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at openbsd.org.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (30441), SecurityFocus (BID 21188†), OSVDB (30514†), Secunia (SA22993†) and SecurityTracker (ID 1017253†). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
