Details
A vulnerability was found in usbarmory mxs-dcp (version unknown). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function dcp_tool. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a hard-coded key vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-321. The use of a hard-coded cryptographic key significantly increases the possibility that encrypted data may be recovered. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The NXP Data Co-Processor (DCP) is a built-in hardware module for specific NXP SoCs¹ that implements a dedicated AES cryptographic engine for encryption/decryption operations. The dcp_tool reference implementation included in the repository selected the test key, regardless of its `-t` argument. This issue has been patched in commit 26a7.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2024-38532 since 06/18/2024. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely.
