A vulnerability was found in Apache Struts 1.2.7 (Programming Tool Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown part of the component Error Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Apache Struts 1.2.7, and possibly other versions allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the query string, which is not properly quoted or filtered when the request handler generates an error message.

The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-3745 since 11/22/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
