Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Artifex Ghostscript up to 10.03.0. Affected by this issue is the function debug_file of the file /tmp/out of the component Tesseract. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Artifex Ghostscript before 10.03.1, when Tesseract is used for OCR, has a directory traversal issue that allows arbitrary file reading (and writing of error messages to arbitrary files) via OCRLanguage. For example, exploitation can use debug_file /tmp/out and user_patterns_file /etc/passwd.
