Details
A vulnerability has been found in opengeos streamlit-geospatial (the affected version is unknown) and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects the function eval of the file 8_????️_Raster_Data_Visualization.py. The manipulation of the argument vis_params with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
streamlit-geospatial is a streamlit multipage app for geospatial applications. Prior to commit c4f81d9616d40c60584e36abb15300853a66e489, the `vis_params` variable on line 80 in `8_????️_Raster_Data_Visualization.py` takes user input, which is later used in the `eval()` function on line 86, leading to remote code execution. Commit c4f81d9616d40c60584e36abb15300853a66e489 fixes this issue.
The advisory is available at securitylab.github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2024-41119 since 07/15/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
