Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.97/6.6.38/6.9.8 and classified as critical. This issue affects the function ntb_netdev_rx_handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a stack-based overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-121. A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function). Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

However __netif_rx() can only be called from interrupt context. Change the call to netif_rx() in order to allow completion via normal context for dmaengine drivers that utilize threaded irq handling. While the following commit changed from netif_rx() to __netif_rx(), baebdf48c360 ("net: dev: Makes sure netif_rx() can be invoked in any context."), the change should've been a noop instead. However, the code precedes this fix should've been using netif_rx_ni() or netif_rx_any_context().
