A vulnerability was found in Alan Ward A-FAQ 1.0 and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file faqdspitem.asp of the component ITEM. The manipulation of the argument catcode with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in A-FAQ 1.0 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) faqid parameter to faqDspItem.asp and (2) catcode parameter to faqDsp.asp.
The weakness was disclosed 12/06/2005 by r0t (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-4064 since 12/07/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
