A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in phpMyAdmin 2.7.0 Rc1 (Database Administration Software). This affects an unknown function of the file grab_globals.php. The manipulation of the argument import_blacklist with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The register_globals emulation in phpMyAdmin 2.7.0 rc1 allows remote attackers to exploit other vulnerabilities in phpMyAdmin by modifying the import_blacklist variable in grab_globals.php, which can then be used to overwrite other variables.
The bug was discovered 12/06/2005. The weakness was presented 12/07/2005 by Stefan Esser with Hardened-PHP Project (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-4079 since 12/08/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
