A vulnerability has been found in ASP-DEV ASP Resources Forum (Forum Software) (version now known) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file forum.asp of the component Sources. The manipulation of the argument forum_id with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in ASP-DEV ASP Resources Forum allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) forum_id parameter to forum.asp, (2) unspecified parameters to register.asp, and (3) the "Search For" field in search.asp.
The weakness was presented 12/05/2005 by Syst3m_f4ult (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-4165 since 12/11/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
