A vulnerability was found in Limbo CMS up to 1.0.4.2 (Content Management System). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the file index2.php. The manipulation of the argument _server with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Limbo CMS 1.0.4.2 and earlier, with register_globals off, does not protect the $_SERVER variable from external modification, which allows remote attackers to use the _SERVER[REMOTE_ADDR] parameter to (1) conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks in the stats module or (2) execute arbitrary code via an eval injection attack in the wrapper option in index2.php.
The weakness was published 12/14/2005 by rgod (Website). The advisory is shared at secunia.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2005-4317 since 12/17/2005. The attack can be launched remotely.
