A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Blackboard Academic Suite up to 6.3.1.423 (Forum Software). This issue affects an unknown function of the file announcement.pl. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Blackboard Learning and Community Portal System in Academic Suite 6.3.1.424, 6.2.3.23, and other versions before 6 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the context parameter to announcement.pl, which is reflected in the resulting page.

The weakness was disclosed 12/18/2005 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at ipomonis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-4339 since 12/17/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
