A vulnerability was found in IBM DB2 Universal Database up to 8.2 (Database Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function sqle_db2ra_as_recvrequest of the component SQLJRA Handler. The manipulation as part of a SQLJRA Packet leads to a denial of service vulnerability. IBM DB2 8.1 before FixPak 14 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted SQLJRA packet, which causes a NULL pointer dereference in the sqle_db2ra_as_recvrequest function in DB2ENGN.DLL, a different issue than CVE-2006-4257.
The weakness was released 12/17/2006 by Vivek Rathod with Application Security Inc. (Website). The advisory is shared at appsecinc.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2006-6638 since 12/19/2006.
