A vulnerability was found in Bitweaver 1.1 (Content Management System). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the file fisheye/list_galleries.php. The manipulation of the argument blog_id with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Bitweaver 1.1 and 1.1.1 beta allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) sort_mode parameter to (a) fisheye/list_galleries.php, (b) messages/message_box.php, and (c) users/my.php; the (2) post_id parameter to (d) blogs/view_post.php; the (3) blog_id parameter to (e) blogs/view.php; and the (4) search field to (f) users/my_groups.php.
The weakness was published 12/17/2005 by r0t (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-4379 since 12/20/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:fisheye/list_galleries.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
