Affected by this issue is the function child_process.spawn/child_process.spawnSync of the component Incomplete Fix CVE-2024-27980. Bypass incomplete fix of CVE-2024-27980, that arises from improper handling of batch files with all possible extensions on Windows via child_process.spawn / child_process.spawnSync. A malicious command line argument can inject arbitrary commands and achieve code execution even if the shell option is not enabled.
The advisory is available at nodejs.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2024-36138 since 05/21/2024. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely.
