A vulnerability was found in SpireMedia mx7 (affected version not known). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file index.cfm. The manipulation of the argument cid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
** DISPUTED ** SQL injection vulnerability in index.cfm in SpireMedia mx7 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the cid parameter. NOTE: the vendor has disputed this issue, stating "This information is incorrect, unproven, and potentially slanderous." However, CVE and OSVDB have both performed additional research that suggests that this might be path disclosure from invalid SQL syntax.
The weakness was released 12/21/2005 by r0t (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-4495 since 12/22/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. By approaching the search of inurl:index.cfm it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
