A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Foo Labs Xpdf (Document Reader Software) (the affected version is unknown). This affects the function jbig2bitmap::jbig2bitmap of the file jbig2stream.cc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Buffer overflow in the JBIG2Bitmap::JBIG2Bitmap function in JBIG2Stream.cc in Xpdf, as used in products such as gpdf, kpdf, pdftohtml, poppler, teTeX, CUPS, libextractor, and others, allows attackers to modify memory and possibly execute arbitrary code via unknown attack vectors.
The weakness was published 12/31/2005 (Website). The advisory is shared at redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-3628. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
