A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in NetBSD 2.0 (Operating System). Affected by this issue is the function fnctl. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a infinite loop vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-835. NetBSD 2.0 before 20050316 and NetBSD-current before 20050112 allow local users to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and system hang) by calling the F_CLOSEM fcntl with a parameter value of 0.
The weakness was released 10/31/2005 (Website). The advisory is available at ftp.netbsd.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-4733 since 03/19/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy.
