A vulnerability has been found in sekler Mapplic Plugin and Mapplic Lite Plugin on WordPress (the affected version is unknown) and classified as critical. The Mapplic and Mapplic Lite plugins for WordPress are vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery in versions up to, and including 6.1, 1.0 respectively. This makes it possible for attackers to forgery requests coming from a vulnerable site's server and ultimately perform an XSS attack if requesting an SVG file.
The weakness was released by Eagle Eye as 161919. The advisory is available at wordfence.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-10018 since 10/15/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 2503447 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at plugins.trac.wordpress.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
