Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in Siemens InterMesh 7177 Hybrid 2.0 Subscriber and InterMesh 7707 Fire Subscriber. Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the component Web Server. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability has been identified in InterMesh 7177 Hybrid 2.0 Subscriber (All versions < V8.2.12), InterMesh 7707 Fire Subscriber (All versions < V7.2.12 only if the IP interface is enabled (which is not the default configuration)). The web server of affected devices does not sanitize the input parameters in specific GET requests that allow for code execution on operating system level. In combination with other vulnerabilities (CVE-2024-47902, CVE-2024-47903, CVE-2024-47904) this could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary code with root privileges.
The advisory is shared for download at cert-portal.siemens.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2024-47901 since 10/04/2024. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 10/25/2024). The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.
