A vulnerability has been found in Lawo AG vsm LTC Time Sync vTimeSync up to 4.5.6.0 and classified as problematic. The web server of Lawo AG vsm LTC Time Sync (vTimeSync) is affected by a "..." (triple dot) path traversal vulnerability. By sending a specially crafted HTTP request, an unauthenticated remote attacker could download arbitrary files from the operating system. As a limitation, the exploitation is only possible if the requested file has some file extension, e. g. .exe or .txt.
The weakness was disclosed by Sandro Einfeldt. The advisory is shared at r.sec-consult.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2024-6049 since 06/17/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
