Details
A vulnerability was found in Drupal 4.5.6/4.6.4 (Content Management System). It has been classified as problematic. This affects the function alert. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. This is going to have an impact on integrity. The summary by CVE is:
** DISPUTED ** Drupal allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via an IMG tag with an unusual encoded Javascript function name, as demonstrated using variations of the alert() function. NOTE: a followup by the vendor suggests that the issue does not exist in 4.5.6 or 4.6.4 when "Filtered HTML" is enabled, and since "Full HTML" would not filter HTML by design, perhaps this should not be included in CVE.
The weakness was published 01/03/2006 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-0070 since 01/03/2006.
