A local user with administrative access rights can enter specialy crafted values for settings at the user interface (UI) of the TwinCAT Package Manager which then causes arbitrary OS commands to be executed.
The weakness was released by Elcazator as VDE-2024-064. The advisory is shared at cert.vde.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2024-8934 since 09/17/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation needs additional levels of successful authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
