A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Squid Proxy up to 2.6.STABLE7 (Firewall Software). This affects an unknown function of the component FTP URL Handler. squid/src/ftp.c in Squid before 2.6.STABLE7 allows remote FTP servers to cause a denial of service (core dump) via crafted FTP directory listing responses, possibly related to the (1) ftpListingFinish and (2) ftpHtmlifyListEntry functions.
The bug was discovered 08/23/2006. The weakness was published 01/16/2007 with Squid Team (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at squid-cache.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-0247 since 01/16/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published 2 weeks after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
